Develop your pattern cutting skills in a relaxed and supportive environment. This course is suitable for people who have some previous pattern cutting experience, either from a previous course or through their own sewing.
An understanding of garment construction and basic sewing techniques is required.
Working from pattern blocks, you’ll explore how they can be adapted and developed into a range of different garment styles and designs.
During the course you may cover:
Working from and developing existing pattern blocks
Adapting blocks to create different garment styles
Exploring pattern cutting and styling techniques
Developing patterns for your own design ideas
Refining patterns and considering garment fit
Opportunities to explore techniques such as grading, copying existing garments and draping on a dressmaking dummy
With more time to work on individual projects, there will be space to develop your ideas at your own pace, with guidance and support throughout the course.
Dates: Thursdays, 5th November – 3rd December (5 weeks)
Time: 1pm–3.30pm
Location: Portwall House
Tutor: Eva Thyghoj
